From Lugano
Locarno is easily reachable from Lugano by train or car.

By train:
Direct regional trains connect Lugano to Locarno in approximately 1 hour. Trains run frequently throughout the day. -
By car:
Take the A2 motorway north towards Bellinzona, then follow signs for Locarno. The drive takes around 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
From Milan
Locarno is well connected to Milan via Switzerland’s rail and road network.

Take a train from Milano Centrale to Bellinzona (direct or with one change), then continue to Locarno. Total travel time is approximately 2.5–3 hours. -
By car:
Drive north on the A9 towards Switzerland, cross the border at Chiasso, then continue on the A2 motorway towards Bellinzona and follow signs to Locarno. Travel time is about 2.5 hours, depending on traffic and border conditions.
From Zurich / Lucerne
Locarno is easily accessible from central and northern Switzerland.

Direct or one-change connections from Zurich HB or Lucerne to Locarno run regularly. Travel time is approximately 2.5–3 hours, passing through the scenic Gotthard route. -
By car:
Take the A2 motorway south through the Gotthard Tunnel towards Bellinzona, then follow signs to Locarno. The drive takes around 2.5 hours, traffic permitting.
